Millennials vs Generation X shopping habits in ecommerce Millennials vs Generation X: their digital shopping habits How much do they buy online and what is their purchasing power? The family income level of Generation X stands at 1,842 euros per month on average, while millennials have 1,600 euros per month. We can also see significant differences in the intensity with which they shop online: Millennials do so on average 2.3 times per month, while Gen Xers only do so 1.98 times per month.
The difference is even more noticeable for mobile purchases (2.06 times per month for millennials and 1.52 times for Gen Xers). What kinds of products or services do they buy online? The star category for both generations is clothing , which represents 57.8% of purchases by generation X and 63.8% by millennials. Close behind are electronics (58.6% of Gen X and 51.4% of millennials) and tickets to shows (51.5% of Gen X and 52.4% of millennials). These are the categories in which the most significant differences between millennials and Generation X can be seen.
